What do you Know?

Inspired by recent testing of elementary students in math and science, I decided to check firsthand into my second grader's education.

Me: Do you know anything about circles?

Chris: Oh, yeah, we've learned about that since Kindergarten.

Me: Do you know what a radius is?

Chris: No.

Me: Do you know what a diameter is?

Chris: No.

Me: Do you know what a circumference is?

Chris: No.

OK, I thought. Try another tack.

Me: Do you know anything about squares?

Chris (after slight pause): I THOUGHT I did.
